How to set up Scribefire for use with Quick Blog

For Firefox 'ficionados  Scribe fire is a free blog client application that can be used with your Online Quick blog and Firefox 1.5 and above.

Particularly useful is the ability to highlight text in the web browser, right click, Blog this and an entry referencing that web page with the selected text is opened. You can then add additional text, links, images, insert tags for popular services and even reference your bookmarks over at Del.icio.us.

The following instructions assume that you have installed Scribe fire on your system if not you can get it from here.

If’ you have already set up “Remote blogging” then you can skip the next paragraph.

Remote blogging can be found under “Manage Blog” > “Settings” and select the “Remote blogging” tab.   Now create a username and password that’s different from your main blog login (we’ll remind you if it’s not) and save these settings.  This user name and password applies only to the main blog account. Sub Authors can use their existing log in and password. Your blog is now able to receive and manage posts remotely from Scribe Fire

  • Open up Firefox,
  • right click and launch Scribe Fire,
Click on the blog tab, then ADD.
  • This opens up the profile Enter your blog address, click next ,  if the blog is not detected automatically  then choose manual set up
  • select custom blog in the dropdown
  • under  blog system select Metaweblog API
  • Enter your blog API URL e.g.   http://blog.yourblogname.com/metaweblog.aspx   click next
  • Enter your username and pass and save those.
  • All going well you now should be able to post directly to your blog within Firefox by right clicking on any page you wish to blog on.

    I have a question:

Why do the previous posts appearing on the main page of my blog now reverting to an italics-like font?

They weren't posted that way, and they didn't appear that way before today ....

    Thanks

      Greetings,

I'm taking a look at that now. The text is correct in the individual entries but there's could be an  open tag  on the latest entry that's  flowing through the other entries. I'll take a look at the entry and correct it if trivial if not I'll follow up with you by mail.

Is there any way to know your own subscribers list? Since the stats refer to a single number of subscribers it would be more that desirable to have more control on this issue, as for example, feefburner does. Thanks.

      Greetings,

Presently we do not provide that information our basis, ongoing discussion, for this decision is posted here. We've actually suggested the use of Feedburner's service for people that require that level of detail on their mail subscribers.
